Treasure Chests
Oh, sure, because opening a treasure chest is just that easy! I mean, why bother with any sort of challenge or excitement when you can just type a simple command and voila! Treasure for everyone! It's not like treasure chests are supposed to be guarded by traps or puzzles or anything like that. Nope, just type /open and you're good to go. I mean, who needs adventure when you have a keyboard, am I right?Â
Chest Types
Treasure chests spawn when the target NPC in an non-trivial instance is defeated.
Size
Treasure chests come in different sizes.
Small (Tier 1-2), Normal (Tier 3-4), Mighty (Tier 5+)
Quality
Treasure chests come in different qualities. Chests of the same size have the same or very similar loot tables. However, chests of higher quality have a higher chance to drop loot, or drop the "good" loot.
Malachite (lowest), Jasper, Amber, Topaz, Sapphire, Ruby Diamond, Blue Diamond, Pink Diamond (highest)
Class Specific Bonus Loot
For every class, there is one specific chest, which contains spells, tombs, Mythstones and and other suitable items, for that class in addition to the regular loot of the chest.
Hard Mode Treasure Chest
A "Hard Mode Treasure Chests" always appear when defeating a boss NPC in (hard-/hard/hard+) mode. It contains an "Invaluable Coin", which increases faction with Token merchants in Plane of Knowledage. Hand the "Invaluable Coin" to Cloe or Walter. These chests drop both, in group- and in solo-instances (except Tier 1 solo-instances).
Legendary Treasure Chest
Legendary Treasure chests are NPC specific. They generally drop 1 or 2 legendary items. Tier 7 and higher legendary treasure chests may also contain an additional random rare-drop-item, Tokens of Legendary Might of even a Reliquary.
Mighty Legendary Treasure Chests generally contain more items than regular legendary treasure chests and may also have additional items, such as rank 2 spells. They have a small chance to contain a mythical item.
Mythical Treasure Chests contain items of the highest quality, which may include rank 3 spells and mythical items.

Legendary Treasure Chest
When defeated in Normal or Hard-mode, selected bosses, such as Aten Ha Ra, The Avatar of War or Phara Dar spawn an NPC-specific legendary treasure chest. This chest contains legendary items, which are modified items of the boss’ regular loot table.
Legendary items come with a minimum of HPs, Mana, Endurance, depending on their Tier (e.g. 140 for Tier 6) and an additional augmentation slot of type 6 for weapons or type 15 for other items. Legendary weapons often have improved proc rates (150 instead of 100%). Legendary items with a click-effect sometimes have the cast-time of the effect reduced.
NPCs which support intense mode can also spawn a Mighty Legendary Treasure Chest or even a Mythical Treasure Chest, if they support Intense modes. These chests have more and/or better rewards, such as mythical items.
Below table lists which mode is required to receive a guaranteed Legendary Treasure Chest. Some NPCs may spawn a legendary treasure chest, but it is uncommon or rare.
Normal means, if defeated in Normal mode or above, there will be a guaranteed tresure chest. There is a small chance, that the reward is a treasure chest of higher quality than indicated. The same logic applies to other modes. The NPC/event may or may not randomly spawn a legendary treasure chest in a lower mode.
Hard- means you get either a second Legendary Treasure Chest or a Mighty Treasure Chest if defeated in Hard- mode or above.
Intense in the first column means there is a guaranteed Legendary Treasure Chest if defeated in Intense mode. Intense in the second column means, there is a high chance for Legendary Treasure Chest if defeated in Intense mode. If there is no Mighty Legendary Treasure Chest, a regular Legendary Treasure Chest will appear.Â
Uncommon means there is no guaranteed treasure chest. Instead there is about a 25% chance in Normal mode and about a 40% chance in Hard mode. The higher the mode, the better the chance.
Rare has about half the chance of uncommon.
Examples:
Lord Nagafen - Normal - This means if defeated in Normal mode or above (Hard or Intense), a Legendary Treasure chest will appear. There are no higher quality treasure chests available. If defeated in a lower mode (Normal- or any Easy mode), a Legendary Treasure Chest may or may not appear.
Ancient Seer Venos - uncommon / intense - This means if defeated in any Easy, Normal or Hard mode, a Legendary Treasure Chest may or may not appear. The higher the mode, the higher the chance. If defeated in Intense mode, there is a Legendary or a Mighty Legendary Treasure Chest, with the latter being more likely. Defeating this NPC in Intense+ guarantees a Mighty Legendary Treasure Chest. There is no Mythical Treasure Chest.
An indication of Normal- / Hard- means there is a 100% chance for a Legendary Treasure Chest in Normal- and, depending on the event, there is a 70 or 100% for a Mighty Legendary Treasure Chest in Hard- (for lower tiers, it's usually 100%).

Above table is a slight simplification. Here is an exact example of Vox and Nagafen.
Trivial : no chest
Easy- : Small Malachite
Easy : Small Jasper
Easy+ : Small Amber
Normal- : Small Topaz
Normal : Small Topaz + Small Jasper
Normal+ : Small Topaz + Small Amber
Hard- : Small Sapphire + Small Amber + Hard Mode
Hard : Small Sapphire + Small Topaz + Hard Mode
Hard+ : Small Sapphire + Small Sapphire + Hard Mode
The logic for all other targets is the same.
Example 1: For Venril Sathir, Trakanon, Vox' Sister: Remove "Small".
Example 2: For Seru, Emperor: Replace "Small" with "Mighty".
Example 3: For Innoruuk: Shift the quality up by one for all chests, Malachite -> Jasper, Jasper -> Amber, etc.
